Instructor Development Courses (IDC)

Instructor Development Course

IDC Schedule: 21March24 through 4April24

Instructor Exam (IE): 6/7 in PADI HQ, RSM, CA

Introduction:

Here at Salem SCUBA, we focus on developing our candidates to be ready to teach in any environment.  Small classes create a more personal and nurturing environment for our students. That’s why we limit our Instructor Development Courses to a maximum of SIX candidates.

IDC Overview:

The Salem SCUBA IDC is conducted over ten to twelve days from approximately 7AM to 6PM (or later).  The course includes presentations and workshops designed to assure that you are prepared and ready to pass the comprehensive two-day Instructor Exams (IE) which is a demonstration of your ability to teach what you have mastered in the IDC. Upon successful completion of the PADI IE, you will be able to teach all PADI core courses from introductory divers through divemaster as well as teach Emergency First Response courses. Additionally, our Course Director can provide you with supplemental (highly recommended) training to enable you to become certified to teach several specialties immediately after becoming an OWSI.

Our Course Director will verify that you have met the prerequisites listed below and will then be in regular contact with you before the IDC to make certain that you are on track to complete the pre-class study requirements. These are listed on the Instructor Development Course Program Learning Agreement which you will sign when you reserve your spot and which you should use as a guide to be ready for your IDC.

A complete schedule will be provided before the start of the IDC which will outline the entire course. This will be reviewed on the first day of the IDC.

We will be conducting the recently revised IDC which includes more practical training and fewer classroom lectures so that you are exposed to more hands-on, real-world-instructor training than ever before.
