This initial deposit is super important because not only does it confirm your space(s) on the trip, but it also allows you to lock in the room type of your choosing.
Each room type has a limit of how many are available, so to ensure you get the one you want, it’s best to send the deposit in as soon as possible. (Please remember that all room types are first come (deposit received), first serve.)
If you are planning to dive using Nitrox, please also include this info with your initial deposit.
*Initial $500 per guest deposits are eligible for a full refund, any time prior to 04/15/2026. (Any deposit refund requests after 04/15/2026 will be situationally dependent.)
Final Balances Due Date:
Remaining balances, including EANx for those who will be using, is due on, or by, 08/01/2026
Trip Insurance:
While Casa Del Mar does not require you to have Travel Insurance, or it’s counterpart, Dive Travel Insurance, Dea and I highly recommend that if you do not have any type of travel insurance, or, you have one but not the other that you look into getting yourself and/or your traveling family members covered.
DAN.org has great (and affordable) options, for both Travel Insurance, as well as Dive Travel Insurance. During my 5 plus years with Salem Scuba, I have never known anyone (who was properly covered) to ever have a problem with their insurance coverage.
DAN Offers 2-Part Insurance Coverage:
- If you, or your family, are traveling anywhere 100+ miles from home and something happens, DAN covers whatever your other insurances don’t.
- If you’re on a boat AND you’re intending to SCUBA, and you have DAN’s dive travel, add-on insurance coverage then you have the same coverage as #1.
Below will be the links where you can review DAN’s different coverage options, and please remember that (for many different reasons) the annual Dive Travel Insurance is a much better option than the specific trip date option.
Example: You’ve booked your trip to, um … Belize. You’re now 4 weeks out from this amazing adventure that you’ve spent the better part of the past 14 months getting ready for. At some point, you did happen to see/hear/get told about a lovely tropical storm named, Helena, blowing, drifting and bouncing itself around the Caribbean.
Up until now, you hadn’t really paid it much mind, because you were confident it would be gone before YOUR trip. However, the grandfather of your mom’s best-friend (who LOVES the weather channel) recently shared that Helena has just been upgraded to a Category 2 Hurricane.
Believe it or not, Meteorologists are also predicting that Belize is still going to be in danger for an additional 3 or 4 weeks because Helena has been bouncing back, forth, and around the Caribbean countries and islands much like that little silver ball found inside a pin-ball machine.
Right about now (in this not so hypothetical example), you’re wondering if you should cancel your trip. However, you think about all the time, energy, work, and money you’ve invested into this trip and decide that you won’t cancel. You’ll just get travel and dive travel insurance. You know, just in case the storm hasn’t moved on by the time you’re supposed to leave…
Guess what, though? You’re no longer eligible for insurance coverage for this trip. Whaaaaa?!? Why Not?!??
Unfortunately, storms have been increasing in frequency over the past few years; they generally don’t stay out-to-sea and away from land anymore either, and, in many cases, they are given a name much earlier than they used to. All that to say, once a storm has been named, you are no longer eligible to purchase insurance / be compensated for loss.
Yes, that does really stink. However, there is a way around all of the above provided example, and it’s called, “Annual Dive Travel Insurance.” (And yes, we have experienced a storm that ‘pin-balled’ between Florida, Cuba, and Mexico.)
Please remember though that the above example is not the only reason to have insurance. Your health, or the health of your family, are great reasons to protect yourselves and your monetary investment. Granted, traveling to Cozumel isn’t hugely expensive, however, the doctor / hospital bills you might incur if you / your family have any sort of health issue are…
Bottomline: Please protect yourself. Please protect your investment.
